Pace High School NJROTC: Marching into Victory
After a long year of preparing for one of the biggest competitions for NJROTC groups all over the nation. Pace High School showed the nation our patriot pride for the third time in a row. On April 1,2023, the last day of nationals, Pace High School was anxiously waiting to find out who would take home the national title. Against 24 of the best programs across the nation Pace would place first overall. When their win was announced Jasmine Jernigan, 12, said, “we felt proud and accomplished when our schools name was announced, it was a true testament to how our hard work and determination paid off in the long run.”
Another cadet James Waller, 12, explained further just how hard they worked to achieve this by saying, “we train all year round, we all are constantly meeting with our teams whether it is academics or drill. We are constantly working to improve so we can be the best.” The training paid off for these cadets as they excelled in all competition categories. According to Braden White, 12, who was on athletics said, “As I was competing, I was driven by the want to continue our streak. I knew I had to do at least 250 curl ups individually to score the max total points for the team, then more if I wanted to give us a further lead, in the end I did 315 individual curl ups.” Thanks to all the work the cadets put in they had a lead over Troy, the team's main competition.
In the end, they outscored Troy, took first place, and became national champions. The effort these teams put into their work and the pride they bring to the school is celebrated by all students and faculty at Pace High. These cadets are truly the best of the best.
