Yearbook Field Trip

On October 13, Pace High Liberator Staff had the honor to visit University of West Florida to hear multiple speakers. The FSPA District 1 Fall Workshop was presented by keynote speaker, Laura Hussey. With the insights from holding the position of co- anchor of Local 3 News “3 in the Morning”, Hussey has interviewed National and State leaders throughout her career, but she cherishes the connections she gets covering the people of our community. A takeaway from her speech about capturing the emotion of the moment and conveying it though coverage in journalism is what makes the reader connect deeper with what companies are reporting and publishing. Hussey also shared her experiences coming up in the reporting field and how she got to her dream position as a co- anchor. She also shared the importance of “Process Journalism” with how you can turn un-cooperation and sparse information into a story worth writing and sharing. By including the struggle in the gathering process within the story and taking both perspectives of a topic for everyone to tell their sides, they meet in the middle by publishing both sides and coming together as a team.
