STEAM Around the World!

On March 12th, STEAM Around the World, a community event night was held at Pace High School. This event was a way for many schools in the area to come together and join in celebrating science and the arts. Many clubs set up tables with fun STEAM based activities for children and families to enjoy. Among these groups was Biotech. This club combines the philosophies of biology and technology to study the exploitation of biological processes for industrial and other purposes. A member of this club, Alyssa Varney, 11, speaks on her experience of this fun-filled night. “As a club, we engaged in multiple experiments such as gathering strawberry DNA and creating art with pipettes,” Varney said. Each table of this community outreach event dedicated their time to teaching the participants about what their clubs' goal and mission is. “Partaking in teaching the younger generation the benefits of joining Biotech one day, we were able to showcase some aspects of what we do in a day,” Varney stated. Overall, STEAM night provided a great outlet for members of the community to get involved with the high schools’ organizations involved in science and technology.
