Florida Thespians Festival
Every year, the Florida Senior Thespians Festival showcases theatrical talent from around the state and provides a space for them to compete, watch performances, and learn about different aspects of the performing arts. Pace High’s Troupe 3965 attended between March 13th and 16th, and brought with them a pantomime, two duets, and a makeup design piece to compete. One of their duets, featuring Madison Schultz, 12, and Caitlin Ferguson, 10, was awarded a superior rating. “It was such a wonderful experience, especially being a senior. It really just reminded me why I love performing so much,” said Schultz. Their pantomime was also awarded superior. Said one of the pantomime performers, Wilbur Billings, 12, “We were so happy. Our work for that piece really paid off, and it was so much fun to perform.” Theatre president Brayden Tressler was the D6 Representative, meaning that he went to state board meetings and helped put on the festival. “It was such an amazing experience, especially for my senior year. It was really cool to be a part of the festival in a way I hadn’t before, and I was so happy to be the D6 Rep,” said Tressler. The performers also had the chance to socialize with drama students from other schools in a unique way. Said Rowan Diaz, 12, “The rubber ducks we got all came with the name of a character from a Broadway show, and the idea was that you would go around and try to find the character’s counterpart. It was a fun way to get to meet people.”
